Research serves as the scientific foundation underlying all of Perludem's policy advocacy work.

Utilizing an intersectional and substantial approach, Perludem does not view elections merely as a technical procedure (voting or counting votes), but rather as a cause-and-effect relationship that determines the quality of democracy.

Its primary focus is to produce objective data and studies in order to formulate policy recommendations to strengthen electoral democracy in Indonesia.

Electoral Actors

Analyzing the democratic subjects involved directly or indirectly in the contestation of power (voters, political parties, candidates, election organizers, the government, mass media, and digital platforms).

Electoral System

Studying the design of the rules of the game or the formula for converting votes into seats, as well as its impact on the political landscape, representative systems, political parties, and government institutions.

Electoral Governance

Examining election management/stages and administration to ensure that stages run effectively, transparently, efficiently, and inclusively. The issue of electoral tech justice is one of the main focuses within this aspect.

Law Enforcement

Investigating violations, malpractices, and dispute resolution mechanisms to guarantee the upholding of an electoral justice system.
