This book, Gorontalo Elections 1955–2014, may be modest in size, but it carries significant value. Its contents consist of electoral data that not only illustrate how the people of Gorontalo expressed their preferences for those they wished to hold public office, but also reveal how electoral outcomes were manipulated, resulting in government officials who did not genuinely reflect the will of the people during the New Order era.

Obtaining electoral data from past elections is no easy task, particularly data from elections marked by intimidation and manipulation. The author’s dedication in collecting and compiling electoral data from Gorontalo demonstrates remarkable commitment and perseverance. This effort deserves recognition and serves as an example for colleagues and researchers in other regions to undertake similar initiatives.
