Numerous election-related hoaxes continue to circulate across digital platforms, ranging from misinformation about election contestants and electoral processes to false narratives targeting vulnerable voter groups. Some of these are recurring hoaxes that have resurfaced over time, including claims that Chinese citizens were issued Indonesian electronic identity cards (e-KTPs), allegations that temporary election officials died from poisoning, assertions that cardboard ballot boxes facilitate electoral fraud, and accusations that votes were manipulated through the voting rights of persons with mental disabilities. Such hoaxes act as pollutants within Indonesia’s electoral information ecosystem.
With support from TikTok, Perludem remains committed to contributing to a healthy electoral information environment—one that protects voters from information disorders that may undermine the quality of their electoral participation, while at the same time preserving TikTok as a safe digital platform for diverse political expression and inclusive public discourse.
