Strengthening a participatory political system remains a key task for Indonesian democracy. Various challenges continue to arise in political practice and the functioning of democracy, ranging from weak governance within political parties and issues of transparency in political funding to the need to create a safe and inclusive political space for all sections of society. At the same time, social developments and the ever-faster flow of information also demand the presence of political education that is more critical, adaptive, and participatory.
Building on these needs, this special edition of the bulletin is presented to introduce a number of products and initiatives developed by Perludem as part of efforts to promote a more substantive strengthening of democracy. Through the handbook *Guidelines for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Political Parties: Strengthening Integrity, Protecting Party Members and Building Public Trust*, the development of the Democracy Education Platform, and the study on *Digital-Based Governance of Political Party Financial Assistance (E-Banpol) for Accountability and Transparency, Perludem seeks to provide a range of knowledge tools that are not merely conceptual but can also be practically applied to support the reform of the political system and the expansion of public participation.
These various initiatives demonstrate that the strengthening of democracy must be a comprehensive endeavour. Such efforts encompass strengthening the internal governance of political parties, enhancing transparency in the management of public funds, and fostering political awareness among citizens. All these aspects are interlinked and play a vital role in promoting a political landscape that is healthier, more equitable, inclusive and participatory.
Through this special edition, we hope readers will gain a deeper understanding of the various ideas, experiences and products developed by Perludem, whilst recognising the importance of collective action in safeguarding and strengthening the quality of democracy in Indonesia.
Enjoy reading.
